The three major benefits of potassium persulfate

update time:2022-04-13

1. Bottom improvement (oxidation, detoxification): The potential value of potassium hydrogen persulfate is as high as 1.85V, and its oxidation ability exceeds most oxidants such as chlorine dioxide, potassium permanganate, strong chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, etc. This potential value can oxidize most organic matter, reduce oxygen consumption factors, alleviate bottom sediment oxygen debt, and can oxidize divalent iron in the water to trivalent iron, divalent manganese to manganese dioxide, nitrite to nitrate, hydrogen sulfide and other sulfides to sulfate, eliminating the damage of these substances to aquatic animals, repairing the black hair odor phenomenon, bottom sediment deterioration, compaction, bottom heat, and reducing pH. At the same time, potassium persulfate can degrade the residual chloramine after the use of chlorine preparations, reducing toxic residues.

2. Sterilization: In the process of disease occurrence, the use of multiple toxic agents by farmers still cannot treat the disease, mainly due to the long-term use of the same disinfectant leading to the resistance of pathogenic bacteria. Potassium persulfate, due to its unique bactericidal mechanism, does not cause bacteria or viruses to develop drug resistance. Therefore, when stubborn diseases in fish and shrimp cannot be treated, potassium persulfate products can be used twice in a row to kill pathogens that chlorine agents or surfactants cannot kill. It has a good effect on preventing various diseases such as Vibrio and bleeding, without causing pathogenic bacteria to develop drug resistance.

3. Water quality improvement: Potassium hydrogen persulfate can not only kill plankton such as algae, but also eliminate biotoxins such as algal toxins. In pond aquaculture, the water body serves as both a habitat for aquatic products and a disposal site for waste such as feces and leftover bait. Especially when the breeding density is too high, the self purification capacity of the water body is limited, and the water quality often exhibits abnormalities, such as black water, odorous water, concentrated green water, and algae deposition. Potassium hydrogen persulfate has strong oxidizing properties and can supplement the lack of reactive oxygen species in water. At the same time, it oxidizes harmful substances such as organic matter, ammonia nitrogen, sub salts, and hydrogen sulfide accumulated due to insufficient oxygen supply, achieving the goal of water quality control.
