How to distinguish between genuine and fake potassium persulfate?

update time:2022-05-23

There are too many counterfeit and inferior potassium persulfate products on the market, making it difficult for distributors and farmers to distinguish and choose. How should we distinguish and choose from such a wide range of products in daily aquaculture water treatment?

1. Firstly, check whether the specific content is marked on the packaging. Secondly, look at the appearance. Regular cylindrical or irregular particles, and small particles with a powder size of 20-100 mesh are authentic.

2. Place the item to be identified in a clean mineral water bottle. At first, gently sniff the air at the bottle mouth with your hand. If you smell a strong and irritating chlorine odor, it is usually a fake (with a large amount of chlorine added). Genuine products cannot be smelled.

3. Take an appropriate amount of sludge and sewage and place them in a beaker. Place the sample to be identified and observe after two hours. If the water is clear and the surface oxide layer of the sludge is flat and compacted, it is a counterfeit product; If the water color is clear but slightly turbid (suspended small organic particles), and the surface oxide layer of the sediment is loose with suspended solids, it is considered genuine.

4. Take 1g of the product, crush it and put it into 100ml of water. After stirring and dissolving, use a pH test strip or pH meter to test. The pH of the genuine product should be less than 5; PH>5 is considered counterfeit.
